Harold Morris
Harold Morris was born in San Antonio, TX. on March 17, 1890. He attended the University of Texas and later graduated with honors from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Following graduation, Morris relocated to New York City and was a performer as well as a piano teacher. He began composing around this time and also made his debut as a concert pianist at Aeolian Hall in 1921. He went on to compose symphonies, sonatas and chamber music, among other compositions. Aside from extensive touring and annual recitals in New York City, Morris taught at Juilliard School of Music, Columbia University, Castle School, Duke University, Rice Institute and, his alma mater, the University of Texas.
