Ania Dorfmann was born in Odessa, Russia on July 9, 1899. Dorfmann was a pupil of Philipp's at the Paris Conservatory. She made her debut in Liege and toured extensively through Europe from 1920 until her American debut in 1936. She appeared frequently in the U.S., including several appearances with conductor Arturo Toscanini and the NBC Symphony. Dorfmann also made recordings for British Columbia and RCA. For many years, she was on the faculty of the Juilliard School. She died in 1982.
