Born in Odessa, Russia in 1890, Samuel Feinberg was a student of Goldenweiser’s at the Moscow Conservatory. He graduated in 1911 and garnered a reputation as a concert virtuoso, noted especially for his playing of Bach and Beethoven. He also made a mark as a composer, writing twelve piano sonatas, among other works. Feinberg died in 1962.
