Heinrich Neuhaus was born in 1888. He began his performing and touring careers at a young age. He also studied in Berlin as a pupil of Godowsky. Neuhaus went on to teach at the Kiev Conservatory and, later, at the Moscow Conservatory, where he remained until his death in 1964. His important book, The Art of Piano Playing, is available in English translation.
