Edouard Risler was born in Baden-Baden, Germany on February 23, 1873. A student of Diémer's at the Paris Conservatoire, Risler won many prizes while attending the school. Following graduation, Risler embarked on a career as a performer and teacher. He toured extensively throughout Europe and South America, specializing in Beethoven, Bach and Chopin. Risler was also an advocate of contemporary French music. He died in Paris on July 22, 1929.
