Allen Perdue Britton
Symposium, March 6, 2000
"The Historian's Perspective: A Symposium in Tribute to
Allen P. Britton" was held at the University of Maryland, College
Park on March 6, 2000. The one-day event took place at the Inn
and Conference Center in College Park under the cosponsorship of the
MENC, the History Special Research Interest Group, and the School of
Music and Performing Arts Library of the University of Maryland.
The symposium highlighted the unique perspective that historical
scholarship gives to the current practice of music education in
recognition of Allen Britton's many scholarly contributions. Papers
presented will be considered for publication in a special
issue of the Journal of Historical Research in Music Education.
