Welcome Yale Fineman, new Music Librarian/Head, Reference & Circulation.

Yale comes to Maryland from Duke University, where he was the User Services Librarian at the Music Library. He brings not only his love of academic music librarianship, but also his depth of experience with computer technology and web searching. At Duke, Yale created DW3 Classical Music Resources, the premiere classical music web portal (or vortal, to be specific). He also brings his passion for music. "Right now," he says, "it's playing classical guitar and Bach—everything Bach."

IPAM—celebrating 25 years at Maryland!

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the International Piano Archives at Maryland at the University of Maryland. Look for an upcoming exhibition in the Gallery featuring IPAM treasures such as the newly arrived Liszt autograph—an anniversary gift from Ernest and Jane Randall.

Howard Serwer Collection arrives at Special Collections in Performing Arts.

Mrs. Nancy Serwer has donated the library of her husband Howard, University of Maryland's late distinguished Professor of Musicology, to the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library. The large collection of books, scores, periodicals, recordings, and papers is currently being processed in Special Collections in Performing Arts (SCPA). For more recent SCPA news, please visit the SCPA Spotlight.

Welcome Jeanne Su, new Graduate Assistant in the MENC Historical Center.

Jeanne, in her second year of work toward her MLS degree at UM, has joined SCPA as a Graduate Assistant in the MENC Historical Center. Her work is supported by the Rose Marie Grentzer Fund, established and endowed through the estate of University of Maryland's Chair of Music Education from 1958-1974.
