Description: Challenge grant to create a Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities. Partnership with the College of Arts and Humanities. The center would enable humanities research through the use of new technologies. It would also empower faculty and students to incorporate this information into their research and teaching, to build digital collections, and to create new communities of humanities scholarship.

Description: Partnership with Indiana University and UC Berkeley to create a Digital Music Library.

Description: Partnership with CLIS and UMIACS to research search techniques for sound recordings using speech technology. Project will involve digitizing 6,600 hours of archived recordings in the Broadcasting Archives.

Description: First year funding will help to complete microfilming of the Prange newspaper collection. Funding for year two will support a book collection survey and cataloging of approximately 5,500 books.
