Photographic Pool
The Libraries Photographic Pool is a group of staff members who volunteer to serve as photographers for Library events. They are not professional photographers, but they are trained to use the Libraries digital camera.
To use the services of the Photographic Pool, follow these steps:
- Send an e-mail to the reflector: lib-photo@umd.edu at least two weeks before an event. The e-mail should contain the date, name, time, location, brief description of the event and the period of time for which photographic coverage is desired.
- Confer with a photographer. One or more individuals in the photographic pool will volunteer to shoot the event. You need to confer with the volunteers about the type and extent of coverage required, including desired shots and the possible need for Photo Release Forms [PDF].
- Notify the Photographic Pool when you select a photographer. Send a message to the reflector, so other Pool members will know that the event is covered and who will be handling the assignment.
For background information on the Photographic Pool and more information on the process the Pool follows, see Photographic Pool to Cover Selected Library-Sponsored Events.
