1. Notice.
Regardless of appointment status (i.e. permanent, contract, hourly) staff wishing to resign in good standing must give the Dean of Libraries at least two weeks written notice if they are non-exempt staff and one month written notice if they are exempt staff or library faculty. Longer notice is desirable. Under extenuating circumstances, the Dean of Libraries may approve a shorter period of notice. (Contractual or hourly employees whose appointments expire are not required to provide a letter of resignation.)
Any employee who leave University service without giving the required notice may be denied future University employment.
2. Effective Date.
The effective day of an employee's separation must be the last day worked. Except for retires, the taking of leave beyond that date cannot be approved.
3. Period of Notice.
Employees are expected to work during the required period of notice. The use of personal, annual or compensatory leave must be approved by the employee's supervisor.
4. Leave Payment Upon Separation.
Upon termination of employment, an employee shall be paid for any accumulated and unused annual and holiday leave at the employee's regular rate of pay on the employee's last scheduled work day. The computation of the leave payment shall not include any payment for leave earned on the unused leave or for any unearned holidays falling after the effective separation
date. No payment will be made for unused personal or sick leave. Upon separation from University service, all accumulated compensatory leave for non-exempt staff will be paid.
