| Administrative Memos > #18: Procurement Of Data Processing Equipment
| ||
PROCUREMENT OF DATA PROCESSING EQUIPMENT1. Because the Libraries' need for data processing equipment is considered "administrative" rather than "academic" in nature, special review and approval requirements are imposed by the Campus before such equipment may be obtained. Word processing needs (other than consumable supplies) are submitted on the standard supply and equipment requisition form, with the "Word Processing Survey" form attached, to the campus Administrative Computer Center for approval before going to Procurement. Apple, Zenith and IBM(excluding IBM clones) may be ordered through the Computer Emporium using an Internal Request and a Word Processing Survey form.Other data processing needs are submitted on the standard requisition accompanied by a State BB4 form. These forms require the signature of the Administrative Computer Center director and the approval of the State Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning in Annapolis. 2. Consumable data processing supplies do not require outside approval and are ordered through the Libraries' standard ordering process. 3. The Information Technology Division (located in McKeldin West, ground floor) maintains an inventory of computer equipment belonging to the UM Libraries. If Library units change the room location of equipment, ITD should be notified of this change with a memo listing equipment type, serial number,old room location and new room location. 4. Computer equipment no longer needed should be sent to ITD for evaluation of potential use. If ITD staff determine that returned computer equipment has no further use in the Libraries, arrangements will be made through Facilities in Administrative Services to dispose of the equipment through normal surplus disposal methods. ADMINISTRATIVE MEMO # 18
Suggested revisions to any Administrative Memo should be addressed to the Director for Planning & Administrative Services. |
