MICROCOMPUTER SOFTWARE STANDARDS
The Microsoft Office suite is the Libraries' applications software standard for word processing, spread sheets, database management and presentations.
Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Netscape are the Libraries' standard Web browsers.
Mozilla Thunderbird is the Libraries' software standard for mail access.
Implementation:
Effective immediately, purchases of new software and upgrades will comply with the standards.
Non-standard software in limited instances and for special uses can be requested and Directors can approve such purchases, contingent on discussions with the Information Technology Division regarding installation and support. The Division will not guarantee to support non-standard software.
Use of non-standard software can continue for the life span of existing
hardware, but upgrades will not be purchased.
