TAMPERING WITH LIBRARY RECORDSLibrary employees have an obligation to use the Libraries' print and automated files responsibly. All staff (including student assistants) are accountable for the accuracy of data entered and the confidentiality of the data contained within the Libraries' print and automated databases. These include, but are not limited to the Libraries' circulation system and its personnel files. It is the Libraries' intent to protect the confidentiality of its staff and users, and to assure the accuracy of data contained within its databases. Any tampering with library records or changing library records, except as expressly authorized as a part of one's assigned duties, is contrary to Library and University policy. Violations of this policy by Library staff may result in disciplinary action, possibly resulting in suspension, dismissal, and/or criminal prosecution. In the case of student assistants, they may also be referred to the Campus Judicial Board. Staff members should check with their supervisors if there is any question regarding proper procedures.
