Lost and Found ItemsTo codify what is a long-standing practice in the Libraries, items belonging to unknown persons found in any of the library buildings should be turned over to the Lost and Found desk located near the front entrances in McKeldin and Hornbake Libraries. Branch library staff should continue their current practice of accepting lost items at their circulation desks. Staff turning over lost items to the Police Department should indicate where they were found. When any items with monetary value (e.g., cash, jewelry, computers, etc.) or of a critical nature (e.g., check books, credit cards) are found, the Police Department (5-3555) should be called to pick it up and process it as lost property. The Police Department have procedures to screen persons claiming lost items to identify them and the approximate location where they were found before returning such items.
