TUITION REMISSION FOR CONTRACTUAL (CONTINGENT CATEGORY II) EMPLOYEESUpon renewal of appointment, contractual employees with FTE (Full-Time-Equivalent)appointments of 50% or more and minimum of 12 months of permanent or contractual service will be eligible for tuition remission on a percentage basis equal to their FTE appointment. Contractual employees will be eligible for tuition remission for only University of Maryland, College Park classes. (Subject to campus approval, contractual employees enrolled in a degree program at University College, on the effective date of this Memo (28 January 2002), may be eligible to receive tuition remission for the courses needed to complete their degree.) Tuition remission for up to 8 credits per semester (Fall and Spring)and a total of 6 credits for both summer sessions will be available to eligible employees. Funding will only be provided at the in-state resident rate. Spouse and/or dependent children will not be eligible for tuition remission. UM policies and procedures that govern tuition remission for permanent and contractual appointments remain the prevailing authority.
