| Administrative Memos > #9 Donation Bins
| ||
DONATION BINSUM Libraries permit groups recognized by the University of Maryland Administration or Student Government Association (SGA) to place donation bins or boxes within UM Libraries, in or near vestibules or entryways. For reasons of space, aesthetics and location of branch libraries within classroom buildings, as a rule requests will be accepted for McKeldin Library only. Exceptions can be made by the branch library heads. The Public Services Office (Room 4119 McKeldin Library) will review requests for permission to place donation bins in McKeldin Library on a case-by-case basis. The Libraries reserve the right to remove any bins that do not meet these criteria. Customarily a donation bin may be placed for thirty days maximum. Non-library groups may not place donation bins or other items near vestibule doors or within the interior of the libraries without the Public Services Office’s approval. This memo will be made available to all individuals seeking approval to place donation bins within UM Libraries. Public Services, Facilities, and Housekeeping staff will work together to keep the areas in fronts of the library facilitates neat and free of clutter. Library staff wanting to place donation bins in UM Libraries to support library activities – e.g., a charitable project in connection with the holiday party -- can get questions answered by the Public Services Office, Facilities, the heads of branch libraries, the head of Information Research Services for McKeldin, and in Hornbake the heads of Marylandia and Rare Books, Nonprint Media Services or Archives and Manuscripts.
