| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
CLEANING OF LIBRARIES1. General Information Cleaning services for the University Libraries is provided by Building Services within the Department of Physical Plant. The philosophy and practice is to provide the bulk of cleaning needs services predominantly when the Libraries are closed. Staff in McKeldin and Hornbake have been augmented with a day staff because of the size and heavy use of these buildings and the need to clean areas containing valuable materials or equipment which require security. Aside from cleaning these "secure" areas, day staff are supposed to concentrate their time on cleaning heavily trafficked areas, such as rest rooms, entry lobbies and corridors and stairwells. Some services such as stripping and waxing of floors and shampooing of carpet are provided by Building Services only during "special project times", between semesters in January and the summer months (June, July, August). Building Services' "Tasks and Frequencies for Cleaning of Campus Buildings" (attached) sets forth generically what is to be cleaned and when. 2. General Scheduled Cleaning Times The following are schedules are for each library:
Routine, daily cleaning of Chemistry, Engineering, Art/Sociology and Architecture will be accomplished during the shift time indicated above. Policing of rest rooms, routine trash removal and spot cleaning will be provided on a daily basis for these libraries. McKeldin and Hornbake libraries will be serviced as follows.
