Staff DirectoryAbout the Libraries Staff DirectoryThe Libraries Staff Directory is updated weekly. The online version can be found at http://www.lib.umd.edu/PASD/LPO /DIRECTORY/dir_about.html. All staff on the Libraries payroll are automatically added to the Libraries Staff Directory. It is not necessary to make this request. See "About Libraries Staff Not On Libraries Payroll" section for additional information on Libraries staff that are not on Libraries payroll. The Libraries Staff Directory is compiled from information downloaded directly from the Payroll and Human Resources (PHR) System. It is imperative that each employee verifies that his/her information is correct in the PHR system. You can view and, if necessary, change your personal information through ARES at http://ares.umd.edu. Choose the Payroll and Human Resources (PHR) menu on this page and then choose the Display/Update Personal Data option. Please verify that the following information is correct: name (see below for details), building, room number, office phone and email address (See “About Your Email Address” section for additional information). You have the option to change your name on this page under the Primary Name section. It is this name that will be downloaded into the staff directory. You may change to a nickname or any other name that you prefer. PHR also provides for a separate Payroll name. This is your legal name. To change your Payroll name, you must bring the necessary documents to the Libraries Human Resources Office and complete the required forms. Changing your Payroll name will not automatically change your Primary name, and vice versa. You must change each separately. Changes to any other information in the Staff Directory should be communicated via email to Denise Wright at dmwright@umd.edu. About Your Email AddressAll staff members of the University of Maryland are automatically issued a Directory ID and an email account on the mail@umd system. You are not required to use the email address on the mail@umd system. You may use any email address you wish, although the mail@umd system does provide some security, virus protection and junk mail filtering. Whatever email address you use, it is important that you list that address in ARES (follow the instructions above). All staff members of the University of Maryland also have an email alias address in the format DirectoryID@umd.edu. This was established by the campus to provide every member of the University community with a consistent email address related to his or her unique University Directory ID. Email sent to you at your DirectoryID@umd.edu address will be forwarded to the primary email address you have listed in ARES. Regardless of what primary email address you use, your DirectoryID@umd.edu address will always remain constant. Because email will be sent to you at your DirectoryID@umd.edu alias, it is important that your actual email account address is listed in ARES so that the system knows where to forward the mail. The email address listed for you in the Libraries Staff Directory and the Libraries Reflector List will be the DirectoryID@umd.edu alias. About the Libraries Staff Reflectors ListsThe Libraries Budget Office maintains two reflector lists-the Associate Staff Reflector list (library-assoc@umail.umd.edu) and the Libraries Staff Reflector list (library-staff@umail.umd.edu). The Associate Staff Reflector contains a list of all Libraries Faculty, Exempt Staff and Graduate Assistants. The Libraries Staff Reflector list contains a list of all Libraries Non-Exempt Staff and the email address of the Associate Staff Reflector. The Associate Staff Reflector list is a subset of the Libraries Staff Reflector list. Every staff member of the Libraries is on one list or the other, but not on both. Any email sent to the Libraries Staff Reflector will automatically be sent to everyone on the Associate Staff Reflector list. Generally, when we refer to the Libraries Staff Reflector list, however, we are referring to the combined list of all Libraries Staff. For all staff on the Libraries payroll, the DirectoryID@umd.edu address (see "About Your Email Address" above) is automatically added to the Library Staff Reflector list. It is not necessary to make this request. See "About Libraries Staff Not On Libraries Payroll" section for additional information on Libraries staff that are not on Libraries payroll. About Libraries Staff Not On Libraries PayrollThe Libraries has access to PHR information for staff actually paid on a Libraries account. Libraries staff that are not paid on a Libraries account include Shady Grove employees, Foundation employees and University Development employees. These employees are not automatically added to the Libraries Staff Directory or to the dmwright@umd.edu.
