Outcome: Minutes from the meeting on May 20, 2002 were reviewed and approved.

Outcome: Trudi Hahn has rotated off the task force to assume her responsibilities as Chair of the Library Faculty Assembly. Alan Rough as Chair-Elect of the Library Faculty Assembly has joined the task force. Patti Cossard remains a member and will attend meetings when her schedule permits.

Outcome: Ideas were generated from a review of the evaluations for possible tasks the task force will consider. The list follows:

• Establish guidelines for each group: non-exempt staff/exempt staff, faculty. Preliminary suggestions proposed for mentoring support of staff include: service, life long learning, professionalism, career development and training, PRD (performance review and development) process, prevention of burnout, quality of work life). Preliminary suggestions for mentoring support of faculty include: librarianship, scholarship, service, networking, quality of professional life, introduction to professional organizations, advice on achieving promotion and permanent status.

• Identify criteria for mentors
• Determine the need for and responsibilities of a mentoring coordinator
• Review the possibilities and limitations of a mentor’s network
• Establish procedures which will enable a mentee to select an appropriate mentor
• Differentiate between types of mentoring

Outcome: A subgroup was formed to develop a statement on mentoring to be included on a website for the Mentoring Task Force. The statement will include ideas from the work of both the ad hoc committee on mentoring and the mentoring task force. Members of the subgroup are Linda Sarigol, Ann Masnik, and Alan Rough.

Outcome: Three articles were distributed and will be discussed at the next meeting July 8.

Outcome: The possibility of convening a "cross over" meeting between the ad hoc committee on mentoring and the mentoring task force on August 12 was suggested and will be explored.
