Outstanding Student Employees--2002

John Chen

John Chen has been working with the Bindery Unit of the Preservation department since August 1998. John is a dedicated staff member whose initiative and leadership skills make him an essential employee who understands and can perform all facets of the work to be done in the department. John's performance goes well beyond the normal expectations for a student assistant.

John is creative, outgoing, always quick to smile and loves to make people laugh. His record of long-term service, strong competence, willingness to share his good understanding of the work, and flexibility during a crisis make him an outstanding resource for the department, and for the University of Maryland Libraries.

Kelvin Posey

Kelvin Posey’s tenure in Catalog Management began in June 1995 as a 9th grade student.  In May 2002, Kelvin will graduate from this University.  Through the years, Kelvin has consistently been responsible, dependable and committed, far beyond the expectations of a student assistant.  He demonstrates work ethics both in personal and job related endeavors. Kelvin encourages the same responsibility in new student assistants and shares his knowledge and experience as he trains them. He enthusiastically welcomes any challenge in a quiet, professional demeanor, and tackles any problem. TSD and Catalog Management will miss him.
