WINNERS OF THE OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE AWARDS 2003

 

On Friday, May 9, at the Annual Awards Ceremony, Dean Lowry and the Awards Committee took the opportunity to present certificates to six employees. Each recipient will receive a cash gift of $750.00.

The following is an account of the initiatives and contributions of our 6 winners whose efforts and commitment reflect true leadership.

Outstanding Employee Awards

 

Pinar Beygo

In appreciation of your excellence and dedication  to the Engineering and Physical Sciences Library and your commitment  to the goals of the University of Maryland Libraries. No matter what the task, you always get the job done quickly, efficiently and without error in a manner that is consistently enthusiastic, pleasant and professional. Your conscientiousness, reliability  and expertise make you an invaluable asset to the Libraries.

 

Jamyung Edwards

In appreciation of your enthusiasm and dedication to the University of Maryland Libraries at Shady Grove. You led Shady Grove’s conversion to Aleph and worked closely with the Circulation Coordinating Committee and the Information and Research Services Team, which required great coordination with the College Park campus.  Your exemplary work on a daily basis and your commitment to morale and team building, excellent customer relations and staff training make you an invaluable asset to the Libraries.

 

Linda Sarigol

In appreciation of your contributions to a number of important library-wide initiatives undertaken with a high level of enthusiasm and good spirit. In coordinating staff efforts on the tuition remission issue, participating on the Mentoring Task Force, organizing the Diversity Committee’s brown bag video seminars and helping to develop a two year work plan for the committee,  you have consistently demonstrated leadership, hard work and commitment  to the organization.

 

Uche Enwesi

In appreciation of your leadership on the LAN and User Services Team in the Information Technology Division. You lead by example in demonstrating good customer service and are creative and proactive in recommending enhancements. You  respond without complaint to all emergencies, even during nights, holidays, weekends and vacations. Through your high level of professionalism and invaluable technical expertise you demonstrate an outstanding commitment to the organization.

 

Jean Phillips

In appreciation of your leadership in the transition to our new integrated library system and your service as interim  co-director of the Information Technology Division  for more than a year. Through your excellent staff rapport, astonishingly upbeat and pleasant attitude, outstanding skills in time and resource management  and inventiveness in task efficiency and workload distribution, your contributions to the division, the Libraries and the University have been colossal.

 

Marlene Vikor

In appreciation of your enormous talent, expertise and energy in the implementation of LIMS3. During this lengthy process you were involved with creating conversion tables, continuous database testing, working with ITD, creating documentation and organizing and teaching introductory and advanced Aleph classes in Technical Services. In addition, your volunteer work makes a positive contribution  to every project you serve.
