In appreciation of your enthusiasm and dedication to the University of Maryland Libraries. For the past two years, your exceptional contributions to the User Education Services’ mission of supporting student learning and developing information literacy skills have been invaluable. Creating the Graduate Assistant Team Teaching Group, which required leadership, creativity, and great collaboration with your peers, brought the appreciation of your team players. Your exemplary work on a daily basis, ability to think ahead, commitment to team building, and excellent organizational skills have been a tremendous asset to the Libraries.

In appreciation of the Diversity Team’s leadership role in organizing the Libraries’ LGBT forum in November 2006. In addition to fostering a greater feeling of acceptance within the Library community, this initiative also increased the Libraries’ involvement with, and our visibility to, other units on campus. The momentum of this important forum has been sustained in subsequent projects,most notably the Diversity Town Hall Meeting.

With creativity and innovation, you successfully coordinated the annual Welcome Luncheon, Craft & Bake Sale, and Staff and Student Appreciation Days. Your commitment to your fellow employees has enhanced their social well being and thus furthered their career development.

In appreciation of your four years of exemplary work in Access Services. During your tenure working in the McKeldin Stacks and in the Holds/Recalls unit, you have been willing to tackle any task no matter how difficult it may be and have demonstrated your commitment to assisting patrons and staff regardless of how busy you may be. Your reliability, efficiency, and stellar attitude have been a tremendous asset to the University Libraries.

Outstanding Graduate Assistant Award

Sara Snyder

In recognition of your superb work with Web Services, most notably the substantial role you have played in the usability testing program, both within the Libraries and in the design of the campus-wide portal; the high quality web sites you have built for projects such as the Prange Education Book Collection and the World’s Fair Exhibition; and your outstanding service to the Libraries’ web authors. Your contributions have been remarkable and far exceed your job description. Your enthusiasm, dedication, and professionalism have greatly benefitted and made a lasting imprint on the University Libraries.

Lisa Wheeler

In honor of your outstanding work ethics in the Libraries. You have a quick grasp of work assignments, a pleasant and professional attitude, and are able to work well with internal and external customers, university staff and faculty. You are very flexible in your work duties and willing to take on additional tasks beyond your normal responsibilities. You are very creative, highly intelligent, a joy to work with, and a great asset of our Libraries.

Yvonne Carignan

In appreciation of your deep commitment to the mission of preservation, your careful stewardship of the Libraries’ holdings, your dedication to customer service, and your exceptional mentoring of staff and students. You are always willing to go the “extra mile,” whether it is serving as Secretary of the Library Assembly, finding creative ways to meet the needs of library staff and users, or sharing your expertise with the wider community. Your outstanding leadership of the Preservation Production Group has created a work environment that is highly professional, effective, and epitomizes teamwork and customer service. Your work ethic, leadership and genuine concern for your colleagues are an inspiration to all.
