WINNERS OF THE THIRD ANNUAL OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE AWARDS

 

On Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at the Libraries Spring social held in the Special Events Room of McKeldin Library, Dean Lowry and the Awards Committee took the opportunity to present certificates to four employees for the Third Annual Outstanding Employee Awards. Each recipient will receive a cash gift of $750.00.

The following is an account of the initiatives and contributions of our four outstanding winners.

 

Jane Cape, Facilities and Services, Planning and Administrative Services

 

In recognition of Jane's dedication to ensuring delivery of mail services for the Libraries. Janes twice daily deliveries, often including Saturdays, holidays, or times of ill health, are accomplished quickly, efficiently, and without error. Jane's conscientiousness, reliability, and expertise make her an invaluable asset to the Libraries.

 

Pearl Coleman, Aquisitions Department, Technical Services Division

 

Pearl is being recognized for her excellent performance and leadership in the Acquisitions Department and for her active commitment to the goals of the department, the division, the Libraries and the University. Her ability to address even difficult situations with tact, perseverance, good nature, and respect for her coworkers, makes her an invaluable asset to the Libraries.

 

Cynthia Todd, Information and Research Services Center, Public Services Division

 

Cindy is being recognized for her leadership as Service Plus Coordinator. Cindy's ability to work cooperatively, speak with knowledge and understanding, and interact with colleagues in a fair and flexible manner, combined with true commitment to public service and to the mission and vision of the Libraries makes Cindy a rold model for the rest of us.

 

Bruce Wilson, Performing Arts Library, Public Services Division

 

Bruce was awarded for his leadership role in creating the new Performing Arts Library. For more than a decade, Bruce shepharded his vision of the Library through all stages of planning and implementation to ensure that the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center would have a state-of-the-art library to serve its performing arts departments.
