Now Open!

McKeldin Library, voted by students to be among the nation’s top 20 college libraries, just got better. The new Terrapin Learning Commons offers in one location what you need to succeed: technology, services, information and a place to meet your group. It’s open late most nights.

Newly remodeled. Bigger than 3 basketball courts. On McKeldin Library’s second floor.

  • Group study rooms
  • Computers, printers, scanners
  • Lots of power outlets (And, hey, you can even reach them from the tables and chairs)
  • Late-night hours (Is all night late enough?)
  • Comfortable furniture (Gotta love that)

More on the way

The Terrapin Learning Commons is the most visible of a series of ongoing improvements to respond to the needs of undergraduate and graduate students.

The TLC, funded in part by the campus and the UM Libraries, also represents your technology fee at work. Look for more benefits as the semester unfolds and we work with a student advisory group to identify additional needs.

Coming soon:

  • Multimedia workstations (scan, crop, edit, create)
  • Lockers to recharge your laptops between classes

(For graduate students, coming in late fall: a restricted, graduate-only room in McKeldin Library to meet, relax, and study. You asked for it, we're working to make it happen.)
