Librarian Appointments Announced

College Park, MD – The University of Maryland (UM) Libraries announce the following librarian appointments.

Richard Leigh is the new Audiovisual Cataloger. Previously, he worked as an original cataloger of audiovisual materials for Book Wholesalers, Inc., in Lexington, Kentucky. Leigh earned his M.L.S., as well as two bachelor’s degrees, from the University of Kentucky.

Kate Murray is the Audiovisual Archivist, a new position at the UM Libraries. Before coming to Maryland, Murray was the Audio and Visual Media Collections Conservator at the Emory University Libraries in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her MBibl (Master’s in Library and Information Science) from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and her bachelor’s degree from Columbia University.

Kenichiro Shimada has been hired as a Cataloger for the Gordon W. Prange Collection and as a Special Collections Cataloger. Shimada earned his M.L.S. from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado.
