Fineman Named Music Librarian
Yale Fineman. User Services librarian in the music library at Duke University, has assumed the position of Music Librarian/Head of Reference and Circulation at the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library, University of Maryland, College Park. At Duke, Fineman developed electronic resources, most notably DW3 Classical Music Resources, which is the most comprehensive collection of classical music resources on the Web with links to more than 3,000 carefully selected, non-commercial pages and sites in over a dozen languages. Students, scholars and classical music enthusiasts in more than 65 countries use the site as a reference resource and educational tool. Before working at Duke, he was a staff librarian and curator of the recorded sound collection at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Fineman is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Boston, Tufts University where he earned an M.A. in Musicology, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Library and Information Science. He is an accomplished classical guitarist, and has studied at several music schools, including the New England Conservatory of Music and the Philadelphia Musical Academy. ###
