Tim Hackman Receives Disability Achievement Award
College Park, MD -Tim Hackman was recently honored with this year’s Disability Achievement Award by University President C.D. Mote and the President’s Commission on Disability Issues.
“I am especially pleased to be recognized for a project that has been such an educational and rewarding experience for me,” said Hackman.
Hackman received the award after his leading efforts in the UM Libraries’ Disability Awareness Month project which features exhibits and events to highlight library collections related to disabilities and disability studies.
“I hope that many who see the Libraries’ displays this month will come away inspired to think about how we can ensure that all voices are heard in the conversation that is the lifeblood of the university, and that no point of view is excluded from that conversation due to physical, or, worse yet, attitudinal barriers,” said Hackman.
Hackman serves as a member of the Libraries’ Diversity Team.
