War In Literature: Public Readings

College Park, MD – The University of Maryland is hosting a Special Event dedicated to the depiction of war in literature. "War In Literature: Public Readings" will take place on Veterans Day, November 11th. There will be public reading of war literatures as the event will try to re-live the experiences of war for other people or other times.

Dean James Harris will open the day at 9:00 am with a reading from Diary of a Man in Despair by Friedrich Percyval Reck-Malleczewen. Then, students, faculty, and staff will continue reading throughout the day until 11:00 pm. The event is open to the public and will encompass authors from a broad selection of poets, dramatists, essayists, and authors across time and place including Homer, Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Shakespeare, Voltaire, Yeats, Twain, among many, many others.
