PRESS RELEASEFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Kerri Pinchuk College Park, MD - The University of Maryland Libraries are pleased to announce the reassignment of Lara Otis as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Maps Services Librarian. Ms. Otis’s move to the position will fill a critical need for the Libraries and their users, as the campus works to provide exemplary leadership in GIS. Ms. Otis joined the UM Libraries in 2008 as an Architecture, Planning and Preservation Librarian, and will continue her efforts in developing the collections for Historic Preservation and Urban Planning through her new position. Ms. Otis received a Bachelor’s in History and French from the College of William and Mary. She then earned a Master of Arts in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University. This past January she also completed a Master’s of Science in Library and Information Science from Catholic University of America. The University of Maryland (UM) is the only nationally-ranked public university in the Baltimore/Washington area. With a total student enrollment approaching 40,000, the University is supported in its academic endeavors by the University of Maryland Libraries, comprised of eight libraries and more than three and one half million volumes.
