PRESS RELEASEFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Kerri Pinchuk College Park, MD - The University of Maryland Libraries are pleased to announce the opening of the 2009-2010 “Speaking of Books…Conversations with Campus Authors” series. The series will begin October 20, with a presentation from Dr. Anil K. Gupta, the Ralph J. Tyser Professor of Strategy and Organization and the Research Director of the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business.Dr. Gupta will be speaking on a book he has co-authored with Haiyan Wang, Getting China and India Right: Strategies for Leveraging the World’s Fastest-Growing Economies for Global Advantage. As explored in this influential book, China and India are two emerging economies that, because of their size and rate of growth, offer companies huge opportunities – and challenges. Dr. Gupta highlights the distinctive attributes of these two economies, providing a strategic action plan for companies desiring to become global leaders in the international marketplace. The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. in room 6137 in McKeldin Library. Dr. Gupta will answer questions following his presentation, and books will be available for purchase and signing. The event is free and open to the public, and refreshments will be served. The Fall 2009 installment marks the fifth year of the Libraries’ “Speaking of Books” series, designed to highlight some of the fascinating research being published in book form by University of Maryland faculty members. The University of Maryland (UM) is the only nationally-ranked public university in the Baltimore/Washington area. With a total student enrollment approaching 40,000, the University is supported in its academic endeavors by the University of Maryland Libraries, comprised of eight libraries and more than three and one half million volumes.
