Harassment by Telephone Call, E-mail Messages, or In-Person

  1. Telephone Calls

    1. If you receive a call while at work, make note of as much information as possible from caller:
      1. voice tone
      2. what was said
      3. time of day
      4. phone number, if given on the telephone instrument
    2. Do not say anything to the caller.
    3. Notify supervisor and the UMPD at 911 and follow UMPD's instructions.
    4. Record incident in the Log Book.
  2. E-Mail Messages

    1. If you receive an e-mail message, save message and print a copy of it.
    2. Do not respond to message.
    3. Notify supervisor and the UMPD at 911 and follow UMPD's instructions.
    4. Record incident in the Log Book.
  3. In Person

    1. Do not respond or do anything to escalate the situation.
    2. Notify supervisor and the UMPD at 911 and follow UMPD's instructions.
    3. Record incident in the Log Book.
NOTE: The telephone call could involve a company selling something or a caller or e-mail message asking to be directed to another party. Notify Supervisor of these incidents.
