How To Use The Guidelines

The Safety and Security Guidelines are designed to serve as a tool for library staff when they deal with a variety of situations. Branches and units should add guidelines specific to the branch or unit. Opening and closing procedures, or additional steps concerning building evacuations are examples of local guidelines. 

The guidelines are arranged in alphabetical order with the header for each guideline at the top right margin. As guidelines are revised or added, staff will be notified of these changes. The bottom of each page will show the date that the page was created. A complete copy of the guidelines will be available on the Libraries' Home page. Printed reference copies are available in departmental offices and service points. 

The Director of Planning and Administrative Services should be notified if a staff member notices that a guideline needs to be revised or added. They will also be reviewed on a regular basis for currency and accuracy.
