WAM Labs in the Libraries

There are two WAM Labs in the Libraries:

  • McKeldin Library, first floor (through the eat-in lounge)
  • EPSL, Mathematics Building, Room 2403

WAM (Workstations at Maryland) Labs are located throughout the campus and are managed by the Office of Information Technology. A WAM account is required for use, and most WAM labs require you to swipe a valid University of Maryland faculty/staff or student ID card for entry. Productivity software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, and programming language packages may be found on WAM computers.

To find the nearest WAM Lab location to you, please visit the Office of Information Technology's Where To Go To Find a Computer page.

For instructions on how to register for a WAM account, please visit the OIT Help Desk.

Other Workstations in the Libraries

The University of Maryland Libraries maintain a number of computer workstations for public use. These computers are intended primarily for library use (searching the online catalog, databases, etc.), but may be used for other purposes if others are not waiting. Library computers provide access to the Internet, as well as provide access to the standard Microsoft Office 2003 software package (i.e., Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Users are advised to carry with them a flash drive, memory stick, or some other portable device upon which to save documents or work. Users cannot store personal work onto library computers.
