Mission

The Humanities Team's mission is to contribute to the goals and mission of the Libraries and, specifically, to the research, teaching, and learning activities of the College of Arts and Humanities, through reference services, library instruction, and collection management.

Members of the Humanities Team provide collection management, reference and research, and library instruction services to the academic departments in the College of Arts and Humanities.

The Humanities Team is located in Room 5101D of McKeldin Library.

Services Offered

Humanities Team members are engaged in the following core services:

  • Reference and Research Services
    Team members contribute to the work of Information and Research Services through in-person and virtual reference, along with other activites.

  • Research Consultation
    Faculty, students and staff can make appointments with team members for research consultation. Consultation is provided for dissertation, thesis, and general graduate and undergraduate research. Contact your subject-specialist librarian to make an appointment. There are subject specialists in the Libraries who do not serve on Teams. Please consult the Directory of Subject Specialists for additional areas of expertise.

  • Collection Management
    Team members select print and electronic scholarly information to support the teaching and research missions of the University of Maryland. To access our electronic resources, please begin your search through Research Port. You can also review a list of new electronic resources.

  • Library Instruction
    Team members provide customized library instruction for undergraduate and graduate coursework. Instruction is also provided for specialized faculty and graduate student seminars. Resource guides that instruction librarians have created for particular courses are available, as are subject-specific guides.
