Late Night Study in McKeldin Library

What is this service?

During most of the fall and spring semester, McKeldin Library's first and second floors are open over night for study to holders of valid UM (College Park) identification cards. Our goal is to provide a safe and quiet study space for our users. The Library requires that each user entering or reentering the building during Late Night service show a valid UM (College Park) id card. All users are expected to comply with the Libraries' Code of Conduct for Library Users.

The building is secured by key-card access. All floors above 2 are closed when Late Night opens. The Library is equipped with electronic locks. All stairwell doors and elevators are secure above the 2nd floor during Late Night.

During Late Night, the McKeldin Reserves desk and group study rooms are open, and photocopiers and the public computers are available to patrons. Other library services are closed.

The eat-in lounge is open during Late Night, but the cafe is closed. Food and drink must be confined to the eat-in lounge. Patrons who continues to violate the food and drink policy, or who do not comply with other parts of the Libraries' Code of Conduct for Library Users may be asked to leave.

What are the hours of the service?

In general, the service hours are 11 pm to 8 am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with expanded hours near finals. Users must check the Libraries' website for exact hours.
