Printing in the Libraries

Last revised: October 26, 2011

From the Libraries Public Computers

Any user may print from the Libraries' public computers for a small fee. Here's how: Printing From a Library Computer

From Your Laptop or Desktop Computer

UM students, faculty and staff may send print jobs from personal or office computers to the Libraries' printers from anywhere -- on or off campus, from campus departments and/or dorms. Here's how:

WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS:

If you are using Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 find out how to perform wireless printing to library printers.

MAC OPERATING SYSTEM:

Install Mac printer driver for wireless printing:

  1. First download/install Mac OS X printer software if this is the first time you are printing from your computer to a library printer.
  2. Save the package.
  3. Double click on LibrariesMobilePrint.dmg to mount the image file.
  4. On desktop, double click on LibrariesMobilePrint.
  5. Double click LibrariesWirelessprint.pkg.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Click Continue.
  8. Click Install.
  9. Type-in Admin username and password.
  10. Click Install.
  11. On Installation completed successfully, click Close.

How to set-up double-sided printing:

  1. You will need to do this only once for a printer.
  2. Go to System Preferences.
  3. Click Print & Fax/Scan.
  4. Select the printer you want to print double-sided to.
  5. Click Options and Supplies.
  6. Click Driver.
  7. Click on Duplex Unit.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Close Print and Fax/Scan.

PRINTING DIRECTIONS for PC and MAC:

  1. Preview your print job (the page/s you want to send to the printer). This is important, as the Libraries do not offer refunds on print jobs.
  2. Select Print from your browser or other software to send print job(s) to the print queue. NOTE: You do not need to select a pickup location. You will be able to print out your job at any of the Libraries' print stations. For library locations, see map of Library Locations.
  3. Select printer. Select the Library you want to send your job to.
  4. Enter a name or title for your print job. Enter your name in the Pharos Popup window. Click Continue. This will help you identify your print job (and distinguish it from those of other students) when you go to retrieve your print job from the print station.

  5. You may send multiple print jobs to the queue prior to printing. Print jobs will remain in the print queue for 4 hours.

Locate a Print Station

Library printers are networked so that print jobs can be picked up at any campus library location.
