Services Offered

Social Sciences and Allied Professions Team members are engaged in the following core services:

  • Reference and Research Services

  • Research Consultation
    Faculty, students and staff can make appointments with team members for research consultation. Consultation is provided for dissertation, thesis, and general graduate and undergraduate research. Contact your subject-specialist librarian to make a research consultation appointment. There are subject specialists in the Libraries who do not serve on Teams. Please consult the Directory of Subject Specialists for additional areas of expertise.

  • Collection Management
    Team members select print and electronic scholarly information to support the teaching and research missions of the University of Maryland. For a current list of electronic resources, please go to UM Databases or Electronic Journals.

  • Library Instruction
    Team members provide customized library instruction for undergraduate and graduate coursework. Library instruction is also provided for specialized faculty and graduate student seminars. Web pages that instruction librarians have created for particular courses can be found at Library Tutorials - University Courses.

Team Members

Members of the Social Sciences and Allied Professions Team provide collection management, reference and research, and library instruction services to the academic departments. The Social Sciences and Allied Professions Team office is in Room 4109 of McKeldin Library.

Scope

Social Sciences Team members provide collection management, reference and research, and library instruction services to the following colleges on the University of Maryland campus:

The Social Sciences and Allied Professions Team's mission is to contribute to the goals and mission of the Libraries and, specifically, to the research, teaching, and learning activities of the Colleges of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Education, Journalism, Health and Human Performance, Agricultural and Natural Resources, the School of Public Affairs, and the Robert H. Smith School of Business, through reference services, library instruction, and collection management.
