UMD Libraries Community Borrowers Program
Who Is Eligible?The UMD Libraries may grant membership into the Community Borrowers Program, which allows limited library privileges, as reciprocal borrowers. Note that all categories require an appropriate photo ID, local mailing address, and email address.
NOTE: Currently, University of Maryland alumni may join the Alumni Association to gain borrowing privileges, but this is subject to change. Library users who do not belong to any of the above categories may become a Community Borrower for one of the following fees:
You need to be at least 18 years old and provide an acceptable photo ID, local mailing address, and email address. Check or credit card only. The Libraries do not accept cash. Acceptable photo IDs:
The ID must have a unique identifier number (an ID or license number assigned by the state, school, or organization).
About the ProgramMembership is issued for a maximum of one year at a time. Membership in the Community Borrowers Program permits you:
What is not included:
Note: The Libraries reserve the right to withdraw or block Community Borrowers loan privileges for overdue or recalled items that are not returned and for library fines that have not been paid in a timely fashion. Community Borrowers are subject to overdue and recall fines. Also note that Community Borrowers are bound by the same Library User Responsibilities as other library borrowers. How to ApplyYou must present an appropriate photo ID and any required documentation (as indicated above) at McKeldin Library Circulation any time the Circulation Desk is open.
