The colorful world of Maryland politics found a receptive audience among newspaper readers.
Mayors, governors, senators and council members all wanted their faces to appear in the
daily press, and the news photographers were happy to oblige.
The picture at right features one
of Maryland's most prominent past politicians, Theodore McKeldin, who served as Governor of Maryland and
Mayor of Baltimore. Here he is shown in 1954 in his capacity as Governor, presenting a state flag
to President Eisenhower.
