The Colts and the Orioles figured prominently in the sports pages of the News American. Although their exploits on the gridiron and diamond claimed the lion's share of coverage, the News American Photographic Collection is a rich source for documenting sports in the Baltimore area at all levels, from amateur to professional. The photo at left demonstrates the excitement of Baltimore fans as they mob the Colts' bus after that teams' win in the NFL championship against the New York Giants in 1958. |
