History of the Exhibit

This exhibit was on display from the fall of 1995 to the spring of 1996 at the Katherine Ann Porter Room and the Maryland Room located in the Hornbake Library at the University of Maryland.

The exhibit was originally created by Doug McElrath, curator of Marylandia and Rare Books, Pam Alsop, and Karen Fishman.

The electronic version of this exhibit was originally constructed by James Fort and David Smolen, graduate students at the College of Library and Information Services, University of Maryland.

In 2011, University of Maryland iSchool graduate students Christie Rigilano and Amber Kohl redesigned the electronic exhibit, and added galleries of the 1968 Baltimore Riots and Student Demonstrations.
