WHAT IS THE THIRD ESTATE?:

VICTIMS OF THE REIGN OF TERROR

There is ample documentation giving the accounts of the victims of the "Reign of Terror," including memoirs and accounts of individuals executed as well as descriptions of popular insurrections in the Poitou region.

This pamphlet, Jugement et Mort du Marquis de Favaras; pendu en Place de Greve, le 20 Février 1790, gives an account of the judgement and execution of the Marquis de Thomas de Mahy Favras, who was hung in the Place de Greve on February 19, 1790. Favras was a French Royalist who was implicated in schemes to help King Louis XVI escape. His trial lasted over two months, attracting much debate due to insufficient evidence. However, an armed attempt by French Royalists to free him convinced the Revolutionary Tribunal of his guilt and sealed his fate.

The Almanach Des Prisons describes the workings of the various prisons in Paris. It also contains a revolutionary calendar. The bottom of the title page informs the reader that this book was produced in the third year of the republic.
