The Maryland Collection

The Maryland Collection represents a variety of materials, including books and periodicals about Maryland. The University of Maryland is a legally designated depository of all Maryland state documents.

The Maryland Collection contains more than 2,500 Maps of Maryland and the surrounding region as well. Included in this collection is the first map to show the Chesapeake Bay, published in 1590 and the spectacular Bird's Eye View of Baltimore published by Sachse in 1869.

The Baltimore News American Photograph Collection is also found in the Maryland Collection, as are many other Maryland newspapers.
