Stephen Conrad Stuntz List
Stuntz, Stephen C. List of the Agricultural periodicals of the United
States and Canada Published During the Century July 1810-July 1910.
Washington: U. S. Department of Agriculture Miscellaneous Publication
398, 1941.
Commonly referred to in the historical literature as the "Stuntz
List," this comprehensive work "consists of a brief outline
of the essential history of each periodical devoted to general agriculture
or to any of the branches covered by the activites of the Department of
Agriculture." The titles are alphabetically arranged; the entry for
each paper is under its latest title, with cross references from other
titles. Stuntz also notes in the introduction, "many titles are inserted,
although the only knowledge of the papers we have is from quotations and
references in other periodicals."
From the 3,753 journals included (not counting title changes), those
published between 1810 and 1838 are listed below for the convenience of
the user.
The (±) character indicates those titles George Calvert would
have been likely to read based on location and length of publication.
Entries below reproduce Stuntz's citation format. |
