Special Collections

Special Collections contain over 8,500 volumes on the history of the printed book and 20th century literature. Included are collections of works by and about contemporary English and American authors such as Robert Frost, William Faulkner, T.S. Eliot, and Ernest Hemingway. Other parts of the collection include fine press books, books on typography and papermaking, as well as substantial holdings of secondary literature pertaining to bibliography, criticism, and the history of the book. Notable collections include: the Annenberg Collection of printers' manuals and type catalogs; a collection of books designed, written, or illustrated by W.A. Dwiggins; imprints from the Stanbrook Abbey Press; the Turret Press Collection specializing in a limited edition series of books and booklets of contemporary poets; the R.D. Remley Collection containing 1,500 books on printing and the history of the book; and the ACEI Book Collection. The personal libraries of authors Katherine Anne Porter and Djuna Barnes can also be found here.
