  Marylandia and Rare Books Collection Overview

Marylandia and Rare Books Department

The Marylandia & Rare Books Department is part of the University of Maryland Libraries System. Located on the first floor of Hornbake Library, this department holds the Maryland Collection, the Rare Books Collection, and Special Collections. These collections cover a wide variety of subject areas, and include the Katherine Anne Porter Library, the Djuna Barnes Library, and the Baltimore News American Photograph Collection. Also housed in this department are UM masters theses and doctoral dissertations. Collections within this department are non-circulating.

If you are planning a visit, please keep in mind that The Marylandia and Rare Books Unit has moved to the Hornbake Library Building. The Maryland Room is now open.

The Marylandia and Rare Books, Historical Manuscripts, Literary Manuscripts, and University Archives units has relocated to Hornbake Library along with the National Trust for Historic Preservation Library Collection.
