SIRS meeting, October 25, 2000 Attending: Evelyn, Debbi, Ross, Chris, Jamie, Barbara, Eric, Barbara, Glenn, Mary, and Susanna (note-taker) Agenda Item 1: Do we want to create and maintain a binder (or something) at the Info Desk that holds handouts from peer training sessions? Yes. Particularly those that are succinct enough to be useful for quick consultation and brief reminders. Eric volunteered himself and members of the Peer Training Collective to create and maintain a binder to be kept behind the desk. We also recommended that practice questions not be kept in this binder, but in a separate binder that would be available for training purposes. Eric will work with the PTC and Cindy on this proposal. Agenda Item 2: Management Information Systems. Irma Dillon or Carol Spector have expressed an interest in attending a SIRS meeting to discuss the resources of that office. We will have to reschedule. Agenda Item 3: Status reports on projects: A. Career Center Information Mary has made contact with the CC and expects to have a flyer to post soon. We will keep it by the career collection so users will know hours, services, resources, etc., of the Center. B. identifying large runs/sets to target for transfer from McK Ref Gerri and Susanna have reviewed MCKREF call numbers A-G. We will present SIRS with a list of sets or long runs of annuals that we propose be removed from the reference collection. We will need to discuss ways to involve our colleagues who work the Desk, rare books and special collections staff, preservation staff, and selectors. C. reviewing our Online Reference Shelf "Career" collection and looking for possible additions Eric reports that he is making progress. He found an article on career info websites that will help us identify useful resources. Agenda Item 4: Round Robin: We are all to remind our team-mates and colleagues to please fill out and return the surveys by November 3. Glenn will send a reminder via email.
