Cindy mentioned the following about Service Plus scheduling: - December 13-23 will be single coverage for librarians - The month of January will be single coverage for librarians - January weekends will count toward a spring semester weekend for librarians - Do librarians want to consider single coverage staffing for other weeknights besides Thursdays? . Cindy gave an update on the status of discussions related to the Information Commons: -The UM Libraries are discussing the creation of an Information Commons space with members from campus OIT. - The IC space would combine the MCK WAM lab and the Worcester WAM space into one on the 2nd floor of McKeldin. This facility would be staffed by student First Aiders hired by OIT. - There would be space for faculty on the mezzanine of the 2nd floor to meet with OIT staff and subject specialist librarians, as needed, and by appointment only. - Multimedia closets with multimedia production software would be part of the IC planning, but space for them is still being negotiated. -Eventually, OIT aims to bring a full fledged Help Desk into MCK and implement one print account system for both library and WAM workstations. - Questions are ideas about this concept are being solicited from the subject team members. . Cindy shared the “Catalog Tip of the Day.” SIRS members are asked to share this tip with their groups and bring back ideas for other catalog-related tips to be shared in SIRS. . Cindy underscored the importance of observing consistent practices about the “In Process Request” for books. Patrons are not allowed to be escorted to TSD to find books in process, but staff can help them place requests for those items. 3. Data Gathering Project.
