Minutes of meeting
December 8, 1999
Present: Bunn,  Laguerre, Lindquist, Hooker, Rollins,
Van-Sant, Foudy,  Nail-Chiwetalu, Todd,  M. Vikor, Winker

1.      Telephone at the desk.  Cindy distributed copies of
the preliminary evaluation of the results from last week's
telephone survey.  We agreed that last week was probably an
atypical week as far as the numbers/types of calls were concerned.
We agreed to resample sometime early next semester after we've
had a chance to review the survey form. We then had a lively
discussion on various ideas for changing the ways that we manage
the telephone at the Information Desk.  We discussed moving telephones,
adding telephone instruments, whether students should have "primary"
telephone responsibility, whether "on-call" librarians should be responsible
for the telephones during their shifts.
        In the end, we agreed to talk among team members and
gather their ideas.

2. January-to-do-around-the-Desk.  Cindy has distributed the accumulated
list of tasks that we've mentioned through the Fall as being "jobs for
January."  All are invited to review and make suggestions.

3. Rover Fall Semester Wrap-up.  Marlene invited SIRS members to a semester
review meeting with Rovers.

We agreed to cancel the meeting for December 22.
