Minutes of SIRS meeting June 13, 01

Attending:  Cindy Todd, Bob Garber, Debbie Stefany(Facilatator), Glenn Moreton, Eric Lindquist, Rosselr Laguerre, Mary Winker, Susanna VanSant, Barbara Nail-Chiwetalu.

VOLUNTEERS TO VISIT PA LIB AND ARCH  LIB:

The architect will shortly begin design of  "THE DESK".  It is recommended that since PA Lib and Arch Lib have the newest desks someone might want to look at those set-ups and offer suggestions on how our "DESK" will be made.  It was also recommended that we take into consideration ergonomic issues at the same time.  Cindy has the LEC ergonomic study , done a couple of years ago, available.

	 The volunteers are:

		Debbie, Bob and Ross to look at desks.
		Glenn more interested in looking at the ergonomic issues.

FOOT PRINT OF HALF HEIGHT SHELVING:

Cindy passsed out a floor plan for Room 1113 showing the proposed footprint of the half height shelving.

The seven ranges look a little tight.  There is a possibility that one range of shelving can be removed and study carrels put in its place. Also, there is a possibility that the middle range of shelves could be removed and tables for studying placed in this area.  Eric raised the concern that light from windows might impact on the collection.  Cindy will check with preservation about this issue.

PEER TRAINING HANDOUTS:

It was decided that the Peer Training Collective would file the handouts in a notebook and maintain it. The notebook will be kept in the Assignment Alert area.  Guidelines for maintenance will be established by the Peer Training Collective.

GROUND RULES FOR SIRS:

SIRS functions as an advisory committee/team to the Service Plus Coordinator (Cindy).

SIRS will meet as long as there are eight members available to attend the meetings.  Members will advise the meeting facilitator not later than the day before a scheduled meeting if they can or cannot attend.  

Members of Subject Teams who cannot attend meetings should try to find a substitute, particularly if the team will not be represented.

When a consensus is reached by SIRS for any issue Cindy will contact any Subject Team that was not represented at the meeting.
