2007.02.27 There are now activated "Panic Buttons" in public areas of McKeldin and at all service desks in McKeldin. That button is NOT a substitute for telephoning the police for thefts or similar police needs; it is a "panic" button. If you are on the desk and feel threatened, feel that a patron is being threatened, or a similar emergency is happening press that button. The button is for these kinds of emergencies and is a silent alarm that will call the police. The buttons are labeled throughout the building and at the Information Desk. If you push the button by mistake, then ask Debbie, Ross, Chris B., Kevin, Valerie, or Michael to IMMEDIATELY call the police at x53555 and report the false alarm. Also, once the button has been pressed, the alarm has to be reactivated. If the alarm needs to be reset talk to Chris, Deb, Ross, Michael, Kevin, or Cindy. The tool to reset the alarm is attached to the spare key for room 1101 (ct's office); staff know how to get to the key.
